Välkommen till Malmö
Skåne in southernmost Sweden is one of the most dynamic and expansive areas in Northern Europe. Strategically located in the fast-growing Öresund region, which incorporates Skåne and Greater Copenhagen, it offers access to a market of 3.7 million consumers – a prime location for pioneering companies and business success inside the European Union.
It is not a coincidence that Scania (founded in 1891 in Malmö) and I share the same city of origin. There are plenty of reasons why my founders chose Malmö as my hometown. The stable economy, availability of skilled labor, short traveling distances and modern infrastructure are just a few.Just like me, Malmö is young and diverse. Nearly half of its population is under the age of 35 and boasts the highest proportion of foreign-born residents of any city in Sweden.
Did you know that Malmö is the fourth most inventive city in the world? According to OECD, Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development, Malmö comes in on a strong fourth place when it comes to patent applications per 10 000 inhabitants. This was presented in Forbes magazine, which describes Malmö as a young and diverse city. The three top cities are Eindhoven in The Netherlands and both San Diego and San Fransisco in the US.
